Georges St-Pierre has been away from the UFC for nearly 3 years but the former welterweight champion is now considering returning to the octagon.
“I’m on good terms with the UFC – we’re talking,” said GSP. “Everything is possible, but I don’t know right now. I can’t tell you everything. I have to keep some secrets.”
GSP looks in peak physical shape and he’s continued training at Tristar gym throughout his retirement, so the mythical ‘ring-rust’ shouldn’t apply.
People closest to GSP has said that he’d come back for the right fight, not necessarily a title fight, which opens up a lot of options for his return.
1. GSP vs Conor McGregor
The biggest fight on the table for the UFC is McGregor vs GSP and they nearly had it for UFC 200 but Nate Diaz threw a wrench into their plot. The rematch between Diaz & Conor gives the UFC another shot at that super fight and could be the reason the contest is scheduled for 170lbs.
The addition of an interim featherweight title also hints at McGregor not defending his belt this year. Either GSP or Robbie Lawler will be the payoff for Conor with a victory at UFC 200 and everyone knows that GSP is the record-breaking option.
