The Grizzlies haven’t had the best year, but if I were Golden State, they would be the last team I would want to face in the most important regular season games we’ve seen in some time.
Especially because the perfect villian of the NBA, Matt Barnes, is a part of the Grizzlies. He spoke to ESPN about what his mindset is going into tonight’s game:
“They’re chasing history. We have a chance to interrupt history. Playing in Golden State, I know how alive that crowd is going to be, and I’m going to be very excited to be part of that game.”
His head coach Dave Joerger backed him up and added another touch of spice to this game.
“It’s for history, baby,” Joerger said. “We’re going to give it our best shot. You also know that sitting out there 24 hours you’ve got a chance to be the answer on every Trivial Pursuit card for the next 75 years. We’ll see what we’re going to do with that tomorrow.”
If nothing else, do it for the Trivial Pursuit.
They really have nothing to lose, I would have probably said a lot worse things if I were in their position. Even if they get smoked by 50, nobody would blink an eye. They have to do something to get noticed out there and not be the nameless faces playing against the Warriors.
