We all know the story by now about Shaq leaving the ‘small pond’ in Orlando and becoming a rockstar in Los Angeles.
Years later, then comes along Dwight Howard, who Orlando fans were hoping could be what Shaq was suppose to be for then.
During Howard’s stay in O-Town, the Magic experienced tons of success, which includes a 2009 NBA Finals appearance against Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Orlando may have not won it all, but it was a promising sign for what was yet to come, but things went downhill, resulting in Dwight’s ugly departure to LA in 2012.
The rest is history.
Things didn’t workout in LA with Kobe and now he’s going through it with James Harden in Houston.
With the option of opting out of his contract this summer, some are speculating that Dwight might be heading back to Orlando.
Hall of famer Shaquille O’Neal spoke on the matter:
“I think it would be good for the city,” O’Neal, a 15-time All-Star and one of the newest members of the Basketball Hall of Fame, said Monday per ESPN. “First of all, after the first time he left, letting a big young guy get away, it shouldn’t happen a second time. All the puzzle [pieces] have to fit.”
Orlando has tons of young talent, but they’re missing “that guy. I’m not sure Dwight is the answer, but I don’t think it’ll hurt at this point.
This should be an interesting summer.
