Golden State set the NBA record for most wins in a single season with 73, surpassing the Michael Jordan-led Chicago Bulls. It should then come as no surprise that their coach would win the award for Coach of the Year.
ESPN sources say that Golden State's Steve Kerr has won the NBA Coach of the Year award for the 2015-16 season.

The only hang up is that Steve Kerr only one 34 of those games. In fact, he had the second best winning percentage on his team as head coach.
Luke Walton went 39-4 standing in for Kerr earlier in the season. A better mark than Kerr’s 34-5 down the stretch. For that reason it wouldn’t be criminal for the award to have gone to Spur’s coach Greg Popovitch or for the first time ever for the award to be split between two coaches.
