It seems like for Ndamukong Suh that the more things change, the more they stay the same.
The super talented defensive tackle, whose habit of doing things his way was a recurring problem much of the 2015 season, was a no-show on the Dolphins’ first day of voluntary workouts under new coach Adam Gase.
This move is not making him any friends in the locker room, as the Miami Herald characterized his Dolphins teammates as “privately steamed” over Suh skipping the workouts. But even while playing for the Detroit Lions, Suh always has preferred to work out on his own at the Nike compound in Beaverton, Oregon.
Truth be told, he was only one of four defensive players who weren’t in attendance Monday. Mario Williams (illness) and Koa Misi (personal issue) were excused, while safety Reshad Jones chose not to attend as he angles for a new contract.
Suh’s first season in Miami, was nothing to write home about, despite his record-breaking $114 million deal. Sounds like this could be a case of sour grapes within the locker room. Whatever the case may be, we will have to wait and see if Year 2 will be better than Year 1. I’m not sure it can be any worse.
