According to numerous reports the U.S. Treasury Department will make an official announcement this afternoon that Harriet Tubman will be the face of the $20 bill. The news has been and continues to be trending on Twitter. Even Fox News couldn’t ignore the news.
The legendary leader of thousands of slaves to freedom via the Underground Railroad is scheduled to make her monetary appearance in 2020 coinciding with the centennial of the women’s suffrage movement.
With a woman practically locked to lead the Democratic Party into the next presidential election for what it’s worth, like her or not Hillary Clinton looks like a sure bet to win the nomination at this point 2016 is looking more and more like the year of the woman. It’s about time.
The Treasury also has plans to get a woman on the back of the $10 bill as well. Twitter’s talking, here are a few things being said.
