The Golden State Warriors are the darlings of the NBA, and teamed up with American Express for a new venture in the NBA.

With the franchise having sold out 173-straight regular season games, fans could now have the comfort of courtseat views — outside of Oakland’s Oracle Arena.

For the first time, an NBA game featuring the Warriors was shown live in an IMAX theater in what was billed as a great big viewing party according to Forbes.

In partnership with IMAX, TNT and AMC Theaters, Amex hosted the first ever live-streamed sporting event in an IMAX theater, exclusively for cardholders.

The free event, which sold out in five hours, was a perfect mix of in-game and moviegoing experiences. As fans cheered on the Warriors against the San Antonio Spurs, typical fare such as popcorn and hot dogs were available free of charge. Fans were encouraged to get loud, and t-shirt giveaways—complete with cannons—were a mainstay during breaks and timeouts.

Former Warriors guard Jason Richardson was in attendance and greeted fans at halftime. The Golden State legend, known for his soaring dunks and personable demeanor, was very excited to be a part of the festivities.

Only American Express card members had exclusive rights to the tickets, and the 250-seat theater in Newark,California sold out in five hours.
