Why Did ESPN Give Greg Hardy a Platform? The Answer is Fairly Simple

greg hardy

Let me first say this is just my opinion. No inside scoops, no one at ESPN feeding me information and nothing from the birdie that supplies me with info from time to time.

My professor at THE Ohio State University told me that most of the time the right answer is the most obvious one.

A lot of people are asking why did ESPN give Greg Hardy this platform to tell his story and the reason is pretty simple, because you are going to talk about it.

Fans are going to speak their mind on social media, media outlets are going to write think pieces on it and people who normally wouldn’t care are going to flood ESPN to see what all the discussion is about because they want to be in on it.

ESPN is allowing their talent to speak on it even if they disagree with it and that is smart, because it leads to even more discussion and it gives the appearance they aren’t trying to push the story one way or another.

So, Adam Schefter can say he thinks Hardy has changed and Michelle Beadle can say that it makes her sick ESPN is even putting him on TV.

It is business.

Business isn’t always about what someone thinks about a person or their moral compass, it is often about what is going to make the needle move.

March Madness is over, no NFL, NBA is in its final days before the postseason starts and Baseball is just getting started.

Perfect time to drop something like Greg Hardy to jumpstart an otherwise slow time in sports. In my opinion ESPN doesn’t care if you agree or disagree with their decision-making as long as you are debating, watching and reading.

Simple as 1, 2, 3….
