Cris Cyborg is set to make her UFC debut at Saturday’s UFC 198 and if her weigh-in is any indictation she’s also ready to challenge Ronda Rousey in the near future.
By all indications Ronda Rousey will have the UFC women’s bantamweight title served up to her on a silver platter but her first few defenses as champion won’t be easy.
The impending rematch with Holly Holm looms if Ronda is able to capture the title from either Miesha Tate or Amanda Nunes and the even larger shadow of Cris Cyborg will now hang over the women’s division.
Cyborg is still the Invicta 145 lb champion but stepping on the scale at the UFC 198 weigh-ins at 139 lbs raised eyebrows. Will she be able to drop the additional 3 lbs needed to compete in the 135lb division and will she be able to lose the 4 lbs needed to challenge for the belt?
Those are both questions we will see answered this year if all goes well on Saturday.
