The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the San Antonio Spurs last night to even the playoff series at 2-2. The Spurs held a small lead in the 4th and it looked like their ability to execute on both sides of the floor coupled with the Thunder’s inability to do the same would give the Spurs a 3-1 lead. At about the 9:13 mark in the 4th Russel Westbrook checked back into the game and asked KD if he should try and cover Kawhi. The former MVP responded simply, “Nope. I got him.”
Durant proceeded to own the entire quarter, outscoring the entire Spurs team 17-16, mostly with the reigning defensive player of the year, Kawhi guarding him. And, on the defensive end, he shut Kawhi down, holding him scoreless. Durant finished with 41 points on an efficient 14-25 shooting from the field. The former MVP guaranteed fans in OKC will get at least one more home game this season, and potentially one final time to see him in a Thunder uniform.
