Frank Gore on Not Getting 1,000 Yards Last Season

Indianapolis Colts running back Frank Gore ran for 967 rushing yards last season, just 33 yards shy of the 1,000-yard mark. Gore, who is most known being the Pro Bowl star running back on the San Francisco 49ers, is still irked by not reaching the milestone in his first season with the Colts this past year.

“I’m not over it,” Gore said. “I’m not going to be over it until I do it. I’ve been blessed that they kept me to get the opportunity to do it again. To go after my goals again, to be the one to get the 100 yards that they didn’t have in years. To get that 1,000-plus yards [in a season].”

The Colts have been pretty weak at running the ball for almost the past decade now. They haven’t had a 1,000-yard rusher since 2007 (Joseph Addai), and since 2012 with Andrew Luck at quarterback they’ve only had one 100-yard rusher in a game (Vick Ballard).

Gore only ran for more than 90 yards once this past season, but he looks to change things this upcoming season.

“Now I got another opportunity to do it so from here on out,” Gore said. “I just have to start taking care of my body, eating healthy, start training to get myself ready to try to go get it.”

Gore definitely wasn’t the problem for the Colts run game, as their offensive line has been pretty bad since drafting Luck. Gore had to battle for a lot of those yards. He’s also had several fumbles in games this past season that also prevented him from reaching the 1,000-yard mark.

We’ll see if things change in 2016 for Gore and company.
