Conor makes a great point in this next tweet. He point out how his numbers compare to the new headliners of UFC 200.
Incorrect. I beat it by 400,000 buys.
Which alone was 100,000 more buys than UFC 197 made IN TOTAL. #KillShot https://t.co/HzidAJQ3Iu— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) May 2, 2016
Reports have Conor around the 1mil PPV mark for his last two fights, numbers only comparable to Ronda Rousey fights, and the planned DC vs Jones fight for 197 only recorded a reported 300k PPV buys. Is the card as strong as UFC 200 will be, not at all, but will that make up 600k PPV buys? Probably not.
A healthy DC and the spectacle of the event will help sell tickets & PPVs but losing the European fans, casual fans brought in by Conor & Nate Diaz’s cult following is definitely a set back for what was once thought to be a landmark event.
Dont be surprised if a UFC 201 or 202 Diaz vs McGregor rematch gets more PPV buys than UFC 200.
