Russell Wilson Outlines a Plan to Bring Sonics Back to Seattle

Russell Wilson probably isn’t too popular in Oklahoma City this morning.

The star Seattle Seahawk QB is publicly supporting the NBA’s return to the Emerald City. Per his Twitter account, Wilson outlined his idea to get the ball rolling:

Personally, I feel like this would scare a Thunder team, subtracted the services of Russell Westbrook, and Kevin Durant. But as long as those two are running strong, that team isn’t going anywhere.

In reality, it’s not looking good for the SuperSonics return to Seattle, as ESPN Seattle’s Danny O’Neil is reporting that Seattle entrepreneur Chris Hansen’s attempt to build a new arena has been rejected by the City Council:

It’s certainly a significant blow. My opinion is this was already a longshot project at this point, that they were going to land an NBA team or start building with all private money. I did not think that the likelihood of this resulting in an arena or teams was very high. At the same time I was still surprised that the decision was made in many ways by the city council to pull the plug now.

I wouldn’t hold my breath in the hopes of seeing the SuperSonics re-birth anytime soon.
