Dirk Opts Out of Mavs Contract, Could Warriors Be in His Future?

dirk-mavs

It’s indeed a fact that Mark Cuban changed Dirk Nowitzki’s life — allowing him to become the face of the Mavericks franchise and a future Hall of Famer.

Nowitzki brought the Mavericks a title, and now the question has to be asked — should Dirk Nowitzki do what’s best for him, and chase another ring?

According ot Marc Stein of ESPN.com — Nowitzki has opted out of his deal, and will become a free agent on July 1.

Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News is reporting that Nowitzki could be a huge target on the Warriors radar — if Kevin Durant stays with the Thunder or heads elsewhere.

Joe Lacob and Bob Myers’ Warriors are going to be aggressive–we always know they’re going to be aggressive.

“We will be very aggressive,” one Warriors executive said late Sunday night when asked about the team’s approach in the coming movement period. “Very, very aggressive.” […]

They will have some money to spend, can create more space if they need to, and can offer a nice situation for a veteran aiming for one last title (and to be credited for returning the Warriors to the mountaintop).
And Nowitzki–who won a title with Dallas in 2011 but hasn’t won a playoff series since–is somebody Warriors management has circled.

THe 38-year-old Nowitzki has made it clear he does not want to be a part of a rebuilding process, and Mark Cuban continually kept the team competitive for Dirk, but maybe he wants more.
