The Washington Redskins reviving corp put up some pretty big numbers last-year behind DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon and Jamison Crowder.
Add in electric former TCU star receiver and first round pick Josh Doctson, and Crowder “believes the Redskins have the best group in the NFL.”
“We are the best in the league,” Crowder told ESPN 980 last week. “Behind just knowing we have guys like D-Jax, Pierre Garcon, like you said, Jordan Reed had a great season last year. We even added Vernon Davis at the tight end, but you know, he’s still another weapon that can help us out in the passing game, and Niles Paul, then myself. But yeah, we think we have a really talented group of receivers.”
“We just have to go out there every day at practice and just work on our game and make sure we are on the same page with Kirk [Cousins] or Colt [McCoy] — whoever will be at quarterback — so we can be ready for the season to come around, because the coaches know we have a really talented group. We know. All of us just can’t wait to get out there and show the world the talents that we are.”
I think you could Redskins up against the Jaguars who will trot out a crew including Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns, Julius Thomas and Marqise Lee. The Patriots are lethal as well, starting with Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, the recently acquired Martellus Bennett and Danny Amendola.
The Redskins are deeper than the Cardinals, but Arizona’s guys seem to mesh better — creating a better all-around group starting with Larry Fitzgerald, Michael Floyd and John Brown.
I don’t know if they’re the best receiving corp in the NFL, but I can see why Kirk Cousins put up career numbers and expects to repeat the offensive explosion.
