Dwyane Wade is already letting it be known that he is not going to sit back and take pay cuts as he did in the past. According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst Wade’s camp has already began reaching out to a couple of teams to let them know his services are available.
“Over the last 24, 72, hours Dwyane’s representatives have been calling around the league to several teams. Not to every team, not to 29 teams, but to a few teams and have said to them, “Hey Dwyane is going to be available and is going to take offers.”
“I know San Antonio is one of the teams that’s been contacted. I know Dallas is one of the teams that’s been contacted.”
To be honest I don’t think Wade will go to either team, but I could definitely see him with the Spurs before the Mavericks. Miami has some other moves to make so at Dwyane’s age it may be hard for him to get the money he is seeking from them. LeBron has pretty much made his commitment to return to Cleveland, and I seriously doubt he want to join a team that won a title that he did not contribute too.
I think the best thing to do is to sign another one year deal for more money and wait another year when he can weigh his options again. We’ll see how this plays out, but I wouldn’t be shocked if he stays in South Beach for at least one more year.
