It’s hard to paint an accurate picture of what happened during the following video but the events that transpire are a sad depiction of the current state of law enforcement in this country.

Without placing blame in this particular situation, we see how the cops fling the male to the ground before discovering what one officer says is a gun. In the footage you can’t see a weapon but it’s clear that both cops have the man pinned to the ground face down. I’m not sure how they felt he’d pull his weapon from that position or how they were in immediate danger but they acted as they saw fit.
No one can truly say what’s the perfect way to handle situations like these but they seem to be occurring at an alarming rate.
In the moment emotions can run high, which can be a reason for the quick escalation but it’s a shame that cooler heads don’t prevail. When the 2nd officer saw the weapon it would’ve been better to remove it from the man and handcuff him.
Easier said than done I assume.
In the end it’s an unfortunate ending for all involved and our prayers go out to the families affected by this shooting.
