When NBA legends talk about today’s NBA, they sound bitter and they’re always hating something.
When Kevin Durant made his decision to join the Warriors, these NBA legends came out and slammed him. Every single one of them, “I would never leave to join my rival”, “I would never take shortcuts to get a championship”, etc.
A lot of these NBA legends seem to have selective amnesia. However, one of them seems to make sense. Whenever, Larry Bird speaks about the current NBA, he has logical thoughts and isn’t hating. Just like to point out that Larry Bird actually works in the NBA.
Larry Legend was on SiriusXM NBA Radio and he spoke about KD.
Here’s what he had to say,
“I couldn’t imagine going to the Lakers and playing with Magic Johnson. I’d rather try to beat him.”
You can expect him to say that. The Lakers and Celtics rivalry very deep, deeper than anything in the NBA today.
However, he continues on and makes a valid point as to why he would have never done what KD did,
“I could never imagine myself going and joining another team with great players, because I had great players and I was in a great situation.”
Ding Ding Ding! A lot of the older players say they would never leave their team and of course you wouldn’t when you have 2 other HOFer’s on your team.
You always hear, “Well Michael Jordan would never leave.” A) You don’t know especially during the first 7 years of his career and B) Why would Jordan leave when he had Pippen and Grant, Rodman along with shooters like Kerr, Kukoc during his championship years? Of course he wouldn’t leave.
Of course Larry Bird would never leave considering he had Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson, Reggie Lewis on his team.
Larry Bird just makes sense when he talks and doesn’t sound bitter. Maybe that’s why there’s reasoning and rationale behind his thoughts whenever he’s asked about what’s happening in today’s NBA.
These old NBA players are acting like they didn’t try and force trades to get themselves into a better situation.
Leave Kevin Durant alone and if he ends up winning a ring or rings, he can flash it at the ringless folk.
