Marvel has been gearing up for their big two part Infinity War saga coming out back to back in 2018 and 2019. Well, until the change of plans. It looks like Marvel is no longer splitting Infinity War into two movies. Don’t worry, they will still be releasing an Avenger’s film in 2019, it just won’t be Infinity War Part 2. Instead, they are leaving it untitled but the films will still be connected, just not enough to make it “Part 2” material.
It’s definitely a weird play at this stage in the game to make the change but it may be a smart move. Instead of making it seem like you have to watch both movies to get a single story, you can now watch two stories in two separate movies. A name doesn’t mean much anyway and it’s better to make them feel like two great stories rather than one huge story, which is how directors Joe and Antony Russo felt they had taken the script.
It will be interesting to see when the name is revealed as it will surely give us insight on the direction of the story after the Infinity War.
