The son of a Miami-Dade County Police Major is being investigated for selling drugs while his father has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
According to the Miami Herald, Tyler Palmer was caught on video by under cover detectives exchanging drugs and money outside the home he shares with his father Miami-Dade Major Arnold Palmer.
According to the arrest report, a search warrant was issued on the Palmer home where investigators found inside Tyler’s bedroom,
“…eight clear storage bags of marijuana, plus a black cylinder containing the leafy drug, the report said.
The police also found three clear bags of suspected cocaine in a dresser, plus several zippered plastic bags of suspected cocaine under his bed in a box.
…two bottles with 15 suspected amphetamine pills, a black-and-green bong and a stash of hallucinogen mushrooms known as psilocybin…”
What initially lead undercover detectives to investigate activity at the Palmer home has yet to be revealed but the fact that a police officer failed to smell marijuana inside his own home is baffling. Selling drugs outside the home you share with your police officer father is equally baffling.
In addition to Palmer’s father, who lead investigations in robbery, carjacking and street gangs, his mother and two uncles are also members of the police department.
