The New York Yankees announced a Sunday afternoon news conference with Alex Rodriguez before the teams game against Cleveland.
It was a huge announcement — as Rodriguez will play his final Major League game on Friday August 12, before transitioning to a coaching role.

Rodriguez is a 14 All-Star games, was on New York’s 2009 World Series team, and is a three-time American League MVP.
Rodriguez has a $20 million salary this year and is owed $20 million in 2017, the final season of his $275 million, 10-year contract.
