The Olympics have brought us a lot of excitement and a lot of crazy stories. This time we have another story involving the cops, but for all the right reasons. Back on August 14th police officers stopped a bus headed to Rio with 296 kilos of cocaine.
According to Business Insider the bus only had two men on it at the time they were stopped. Paraguayan authorities got a tip that something strange was going on with the bus. The bus had logos of a transport company, but there were no passengers on board.
The 52-year-old, and the 46-year-old who were on the bus at the time were charged with drug trafficking and other crimes. The coke was in 274 packets hidden in a meter long, 20 centimeter wide false bottom underneath a mini fridge. The bus had been sold by VIPS Tour back in late July with the new owner promising to remove the logos.
Officials say the coke was likely from Colombia. If the two men would have got it off they would have made almost $3 million according to ABC. Police also confiscated cell phones and cash.
