The Nevada State Athletic Commission’s job is to keep fighters safe and sometimes that means protecting them from themselves.
Conor McGregor has a history of jumping into short camps and taking fights within months of each other but after a 5-round war against Nate Diaz at UFC 202 the NSAC is pumping the brakes on McGregor.
Conor is facing a medical suspension that will keep him out until February 17th if he does not get cleared by a physician to participate sooner. Many fighters have their own personal physicians that clear them after fights, so Conor should be able to get a doctor’s note and return to training.
The problem is that even with a clearance the NSAC is holding Conor out until October 20th. He will not be allowed to train again until October 5th, which means that placement on UFC 205’s NYC card is in serious jeopardy.
