McNabb on Eagles “Dumb” QB Decisions

Donovan McNabb’s No. 5 jersey hangs in the Eagles ring of honor, but that’s not going to stop the former Philly great from speaking his mind about the organization.

Many in the league, questioned the Eagles move to trade up and select Carson Wentz at No. 2 — after signing Sam Bradford to a new two-year deal.

McNabb told Dan Levy of BillyPenn.com that the Eagles gaffe in re-signing Bradford and then moved up to select Wentz.

“And now you sign — which was dumb — you sign Sam Bradford to a multi-year deal and give him big money, then you trade picks to move up to No. 2 – that was dumb. I mean, nothing against Carson Wentz, but why would you do that? That’s just a bad business decision from the Philadelphia Eagles,” McNabb said.

I agree somewhat — as Bradford isn’t a bad option under center, and Chase Daniels shows potential to be a starter in the league as well.

McNabb believes Philly should have saved the money used on Bradford, and just used Daniels as a stop gap.

“Chase Daniel is not a bad player. Chase Daniel can hold the fort down for six, eight, 10 weeks and then if things aren’t going well you move a slow transition to Carson Wentz,” McNabb said.

The comments definitely won’t sit well with some in the city, and the conversation will go on for most of the season, with Wentz not expected to play this season.
