A few months ago, we brought you the story of Nascar’s Drive 4 Diversity Pit Crew Combine. After May’s first ever combine, 9 college athletes were selected as the new D4D crew member class.
Among those making the cut were two female athletes, former Norfolk State, basketball player Brehanna Daniels and former Alcorn State University softball player Breanna O’Leary. The pair will be trained by Phil Horton as tire changers. The other seven athletes are former football players.
This year’s combine attendees were selected following a scouting process that included tryouts at six universities. Out of the eighteen combine attendees, half were selected to join the D4D pit crew program. The new class is comprised of the following:
Brehanna Daniels (Norfolk State University basketball)
Kapil Fletcher (University of Kansas football)
Tedarian Johnson (University of Kansas football)
Jeremy Kimbrough (Appalachian State University football)
Corey King (University of Kansas football)
Lamar Neal (Norfolk State University football)
Breanna O’Leary (Alcorn State University softball)
Jorden Paige (Clark Atlanta University football)
Joshua Tate (Clark Atlanta University football)
The D4D Crew Member Development Program currently has 35 graduates working in NASCAR. Earlier this month, graduates, Raphael Diaz, Kevin Richardson and Richie Williams, celebrated in Victory Lane as part of Chris Buescher’s pit crew after he won his first premier series race at Pocono Raceway.
Congratulations to the new class. Flip the page to take a look at their combine performances.
