“Good Morning America” co-anchor Amy Robach found herself in the middle of a social media beat down after using the term “colored people” during Monday’s live broadcast discussing the backlash over “Spider-Man” casting decisions.
Robach was speaking on diversity in Hollywood, and the casting of white actors in “what one might assume should be a role reserved for colored people”. Although she meant to say “people of color”, the damage was done and social media took off as Twitter users blasted Robach and ABC for racially insensitivity. Robach responded by releasing a statement calling the incident a mistake and insisting the phrase is not reflective of her feelings or how she speaks in her everyday life.
