RG3 has the opportunity to restore his reputation in Cleveland, and fatten up his wallet a little more.
Per Ian Rapoport of NFL.com — Griffin III signed a two-year, $15 million deal, but can make upwards of $7 million in incentives over the next two years, bringing the total value of his deal with Cleveland to $22 million.
Here’s how the incentives break down:
Rg3 can earn $500,000 a year if he plays more than 75 percent of the offensive snaps — $1.5 million if he participates in 90 percent or more — meaning he can earn $3 million in total by staying healthy and holding on to his job.
If his passer rating surpasses 93, Rg3 will earn $1 million a year — if he passes for over 4,000 yards, he’ll earn another $1 million — $500,000 if he finishes between 3,500 and 3,999 yards, and $250,000 if he throws between 3,250 and 3,499 yards.
