If there was ever a silver lining to getting choked out in front of millions of people, CM Punk found it.
The salary numbers have been disclosed for UFC 203 and CM Punk was given a champions salary for his lopsided loss to Mickey Gall.
CM Punk was paid a guaranteed $500K for his 2-minutes of work. In stark contrast to Punk, the victorious Mickey Gall was paid $15K guaranteed and received an additional $15k for winning.
Punk’s $500K sum is one usually reserved for title holders that main event cards. In fact, it wasn’t until last Summer that Conor McGregor bumped up the norm champion pay to the $500k amount you see today.
To further put Punk’s pay into perspective, he made more guaranteed money in his UFC 203 fight than Anthony Pettis & Tyron Woodley have ever made for a single fight. And those two have held (are holding) UFC titles.
Punk’s contract didn’t feature a win bonus, not very surprised by that omission. The absence of a win bonus usually suggest that a fighter has received PPV points in his deal, which would bump up Punk’s salary considerably.
Not bad for taking a beating.
