Gabrielle Union isn’t going to sugar coat her opinion, so it was interesting to see her openly address Colin Kaepernick’s protest of the national anthem during the Q&A portion of last night’s screening of, “Birth of a Nation” at TIFF.
Union — who’s co-staring in the film — has been critical of Nate Parker’s rape allegations, and compared Kaepernick’s recent plight to that of Nate Turner per Variety.
“If you are wondering about Colin Kaepernick and his stand for equality and if he’s on the right side of history,” she said, “there’s nothing more patriotic than resistance.”
Kaepernick has been slammed daily for his refusal to stand during the National Anthem, but seems to have a new supporter in Union.
