Georges St-Pierre has all but ended the speculation surrounding his return to the UFC by enrolling in USADA’s drug testing system. All UFC athletes, other than Brock Lesnar, must go through months of drug testing before they’re allowed to compete for the company and GSP is taking no shortcuts.
The first day GSP is allowed to compete for the UFC is December 10th, which happens to be the day of UFC 206 in Toronto, Canada.
“I don’t think it’s a coincidence that it’s in Toronto,” St-Pierre said to UFC Tonight. “Who would be a better man than myself to headline a card in Toronto, to fill up the Air Canada and get back the Canadian fans, raise the pay-per-view up because now Rory is going to Bellator? I’m the man for the job.”
And who will GSP face in his return to the octagon? He has an opponent in mind.
“Let me fight Tyrone Woodley, then we’ll see if I want to be world champion again. I understand what he means, and I’m not angry at Dana. He does what he does for the best of his interests. I do what I do for the best of my interests,” said St-Pierre.
Fans have awaited the return of ‘Rush’ and an immediate title shot is warranted given his exit as champion.
Woodley has a defeat on his record at the hands of GSP training partner Rory MacDonald, so it shouldn’t come as a surprise that St-Pierre is more than willing to go 5-rounds with the champ.
