In two weeks, the Cleveland Cavaliers will begin their journey on defending their title, as training week begins in two weeks for NBA teams. Smith is still an unrestricted free agent, and while he hasn’t talked to any other teams, he still hasn’t come to a deal with the Cavs. He talked about the situation with Adam Caparell from Complex Sports. “Mutual respect” is Smith’s reason on why he hasn’t agreed to a deal with the ball club yet.
“Well, obviously we’re not where we want to be at from a personal standpoint,” says Smith. “But it’s more than just numbers. I don’t want to feel like I’m taking advantage of the Cavs for everything they’ve done for me, and I don’t want them to feel like I’m taking advantage of them. It’s more of a mutual respect thing.”
Is pretty much expected for Smith to sooner or later re-sign, because there’s no other team willing to offer more money then what the Cavs have offered. Lets hope they get a deal done before camp starts so the team can focus on what’s more what more important which is defending their title,it’s only a matter of time.
