Bucs second year signal caller Jameis Winston had a great start to the season, the team beat the Falcons (division rival) and he was impressive, throwing 4 TDs. This should be a big year in his maturation and development as a quarterback, so far so good.
The 2015 #1 overall pick and 2013 Heisman Trophy winner was a guest on The Dan Patrick Show on Tuesday. During the interview the subject of the Heisman came up and Winston told Patrick he had no idea where the award is.
My dad has it somewhere. When I left New York, that’s probably the last time I’ve seen it, other than seeing it in the cases at Florida State. My dad really took that off my hands. … I have no idea where he has it. He treats that thing like that’s his son. It’s always in a new place. You never know with my dad.
No doubt Jameis’ Heisman is a source of pride for his father. That award is the pinnacle of his college career along with the national championship. As a second year player Winston seems to be doing all the things necessary to be a top tier quarterback in the NFL. If he keeps it up, the Heisman won’t be the only thing his dad is proud of.
