No one in South Florida thought they would ever see the day Dwyane Wade would wear any other jersey but a Miami Heat jersey, but after the dust had cleared in the 2016 NBA free agency, Wade was officially part of the Chicago Bulls organization.
How did that even happen? Residents had named the county after him. We don’t know Dade County. There was only ever Wade County since 2003. This was the man who brought an NBA Championship to Miami on his back in 2006. After that, it was perceived that Wade orchestrated a whole plan that brought LeBron James and Chris Bosh to Miami, which in turn led to 4 straight finals appearances and 2 more rings for the city of Miami.
Professional basketball flourished in Miami because of Wade, and now he was gone. There were a few rogue fans who burned his jersey, but the real Heat lifers scoffed at even such an asinine idea. Heat fans appreciated the sacrifices Wade made throughout his career for the Heat organization and the fans that supported him, so it was only natural that Wade would return the favor.
A simple Instagram post would’ve probably done the trick, but Heat fans got more when a huge Billboard appeared off the 395, which is the highway closest to the American Airlines Arena, popped up.

Wade returns to Miami on November 10th, when the Bulls face the Heat. You can expect there will be grown men crying at the loss of their beloved superstar. The appreciation goes both ways.
