In today’s game, you often hear the same redundant sound over and over again. However, every once in a while you’ll find an underground gem with an unique sound that separates them from mainstream artists, which brings us to Bria Royale.
This St. Louis artist is exactly that, an artist. After listening to her first official project entitled “ROYALE”, it became clear to me that it’s impossible to place her into a box. One song may give you a soulful R&B type of vibe, while another track will hit you with a trap soul feel decorated with relatable lyrics.
As Bria Royale continues to build her brand, I was able to catch up with her for an exclusive interview:
Your “ROYALE” project has only been out a few days, but you’re receiving tons of great feedback. Did you expect this type of reaction?
Nah, I didn’t, I expected to get like 50 downloads or less. I didn’t know people really rocked with me like that.
How long was the process of making this project?
I been working on Royale for about 8-9 months. It was called ‘Dictate Never Accept’ at first but I wanted my fans to get to know me more than just the brand I represent.
With this being your first official mixtape, what message did you want to get across through your lyrics?
Don’t be afraid to express yourself and tell stories that occurred throughout your life. Go for what’s yours, stay dedicated and work hard. It’ll all come to you.
Who are some of the artists in the game that you look to for inspiration?
T.I , Kendrick Lamar , Dej Loaf and Chance the Rapper.
What can the fans expect from Bria Royale the remainder of this year and in 2017?
Expect a EP/Album and maybe a feature with a celeb artist. Everything is in the works but until then I’ll be grinding and pushing “ROYALE”.
Make sure you check out Bria Royale’s “ROYALE” mixtape on Spinrilla, DatPiff or SoundCloud.
