A member of the LAPD detective bureau that was investigating the rape allegations against NBA star Derrick Rose died of a gunshot wound on Tuesday.
According to the Los Angeles Times the victim, identified as 44-year old Nadine Hernandez, was found wounded after the Whitter Police Department received a call on Tuesday notifying them of an attempted suicide. Emergency responders transported Hernandez to PIH Health Hospital in Whittier where she died at 3:27 p.m.
Hernandez was found in a home registered to a retired LAPD lieutenant who was reportedly related to Hernandez. The cause of death, a single gunshot wound, has yet to be ruled a suicide or homicide.

The Times report goes on to say that Hernandez was assigned to the Rose case and frequently worked with high-profile sex crimes.
Whittier poilce are investigating the death of LAPD Detective Nadine Hernandez as a suicide. Foul play is not suspected at this point.
