LeBron is no doubt an iconic sports figure and keeps on adding to his legacy. Now LeBron has adding another major accomplishment that is even greater than his three NBA titles. James has now established the “I Promise” foundation at the University of Akron.
The “I Promise” program offers children in Akron a full ride to the University of Akron if they complete LeBron’s program. According to Micah Peters of For The Win students will have to graduate from a school within Akron’s public school system. They must also achieve certain standardized test scores, and complete a community service requirement.
I know off of first hand experience how expensive a college education is so this is a very big deal. You can’t help but respect what LeBron is doing for the community regardless of how you feel about him as a basketball player. James also went to Twitter to make his announcement of his new partnership.
Humbled & unbelievably proud to announce the #LJFF I PROMISE Institute at @UAkron!! Go back. invest. Rebuild. Change. that’s our duty. pic.twitter.com/4wND9HXiBH
