The Jacksonville Jaguars was supposed to be one of the breakout teams this year but are off to an 2-5 start including a bad loss against the Titans 36-22 Thursday Night. People thought that their head coach Gus Bradley would be out the door after not meeting expectations. Instead the Jags fire their offensive coordinator Greg Olsen. The team promoted quarterbacks coach Nathanial Hackett for the rest of the season. Olsen told NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport that it was some disconnection between him and Bradley with lack of focus on the run.
“Tough day…but regression offensively was the reason,” Olson told Rapoport of his firing. “Couldn’t find an identity in the run game which significantly hurts blakes (sic) strengths as a QB. … Made great strides last year but didn’t follow up on the expectations. … Would be easy to look for excuses and it hurts, but part of the responsibility of being an OC
The Jaguars offense has regressed since having their breakout season in 2015. They are ranked last in rushing, Bortles has been struggling and hasn’t made that stride as a franchise QB this year. Allen Robinson was supposed to be an upcoming wide receiver this year but hasn’t lived up tp the hype at this point of the season. Will the QB coach get things on the right track, because if he doesn’t improve the offense for the rest of the season there will be a lot of changes in the Jags front office next season.
