Jay-Z, Kanye West, and Frank Ocean just won their case on their ‘Made in America’ lawsuit. The lawsuit claimed that the artist used copyright infringement.
On Friday, October 7, the verdict was announced that the ruling was dismissed. Joel Mcdonald claimed that the iconic album ‘Watch the Throne’ song stolen his sound. Joel Mcdonald filed the suit in 2014, claiming that stole the same sound and name.
“We have considered all of McDonald’s arguments and find them to be without merit,” the U.S. Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled.
The lawsuit also brought in a lot of names into the court case. Producers such as producers Mike Dean and Shama Joseph were name dropped. Also mentioned were music companies such as Universal Music Group, Roc-A-Fella Records, Def Jam Music and Roc Nation.
