Does that picture look familiar to you? Look closely. Yes, that is a recreation of Leonardo da Vinci’s iconic Last Supper painting. In the Christian religion it is believed that before his death Jesus shared a final meal with his apostles. The contestants of the 2016 Brazilian Miss Bumbum pageant have come under fire for offending many people in Brazil, a country of majority Catholics.
According to the Daily Mail, religious leaders branded the remake of the Da Vinci masterpiece ‘deeply disrespectful’ and anger is widespread. In fact one of the pageant contestants expressed shame in posing for the controversial picture, claiming she had ‘asked forgiveness from God for a great sin’.
I can’t say whether or not it’s a sin. The only question I have is, who was in the brainstorm session when this idea came up?
