If you wake up in the world one day and realize NFL punters are super cool — Marquette King will be the guy you thank.
Talk about a hustler’s ambition — according to The New Yorker — King was recruited to be a wide receiver at Fort Valley State, but struggled to get on the field.
Needing to do something to retain his scholarship — Marquette taught himself how to punt, eventually moving on to the NFL, where he beat out Chris Kluwe to win the Raiders punting job, replacing Shane Lechler.
King like Reggie Roby in my generation — is currently the leagues only black punter — which makes him even more special, because not only does he have wheels
