The San Antonio Spurs made the biggest free agent signing when they signed PF Lamarcus Aldridge before the 2015-16 season. Aldridge didn’t perform like they thought he would in the playoffs last year, they struggled on defense with Tim Duncan wasn’t on the floor. When Aldridge played the center position the Spurs allowed the worst 111.3 points per 100 possessions. And when Duncan wasn’t on the floor with Aldridge, the team defensive rating went from 95.4 to 98.8. Jackie MacMullan stated that Aldridge might not finish the season with the Spurs if he doesn’t meet expectations this year.
“For instance, sources were telling me the other day that LaMarcus Aldridge may not even finish the year with the Spurs. That experiment hasn’t quite worked out the way they hoped.”
The Spurs could possibly receive a good deal for Aldridge. The all-star forward is 31 years old, and his trade value is at its highest peak. It wouldn’t be too surprising if the Spurs could strike a deal with a team that in desperately need of good talent, if the team could received some nice pieces in return to make another title run.
