A British woman avoided jail time after sought revenge on a lover who dismissed her from his life and the job.
Kaylea Reid was charged under the United Kingdom’s revenge-porn law, after she admitted to posting naked photos of her former boss on his wife’s Facebook page for all to see.
Reid a “Care worker” 26, exchanged intimate photographs with her manager Robert Page when they became close after she split from her boyfriend,” explained the Daily Mail, adding that after she lost her job she took two images of a naked Mr. Page and posted them to the “Facebook page of a mobile tool supplies company run by his wife.”
Ms. Reid “could have been jailed for up to two years, but she was given a conditional discharge for six months and ordered to pay a victim surcharge fee of £20,” the Daily Mail reported Tuesday.
Ms. Reid’s attorney, Paul Booty, reportedly told the court that his client took the drastic step of posting the naked snaps of her ex-lover because “she was trying to be heard.” Accordingly, she suffered “just as much humiliation” as her victim, Mr. Booty argued, said the Daily Mail.
Revenge porn has been illegal in the United Kingdom since 2015, and the “vast majority” of the few hundred offenders who have been prosecuted have been men, according to the Daily Mail.
