Before the season, newly acquired Derrick Rose lifted expectations when he proclaimed this unit as being a “super team”. Through six games, the Knicks are struggling with a record of (2-4). Sure, they have name value with the likes of Carmelo Anthony, Kristaps Porzingis, and Joakim Noah, but they’re still learning how to play together.
Also, head coach Jeff Hornacek is trying to figure out how much power he actually has. With Phil Jackson standing over his shoulder, there are reports of him being upset about how they’re running the triangle.
The players are frustrated as well.
According to sources, some Knicks players have expressed their displeasure over the offense because they feel it doesn’t suit their personnel, particularly point guard Derrick Rose, who has traditionally thrived when using pick-and-rolls.
While it’s still very early, the Knicks better figure things out sooner rather than later.
