Dwyane Wade opened up about his relationship with Pat Riley and let us know if the two even speak anymore. Was this a bad breakup?
When Dwyane Wade dropped the news that he was going to play for the Bulls, it’s almost as if no one saw it coming. Wade built a terrific legacy for himself with the HEAT. He helped bring home the first championship, too. I don’t doubt that he’ll retire as a Miami HEAT player. This is enough for you to think that Pat Riley wouldn’t be too upset with him, right? Not quite but Wade described his relationship and it’s safe to safe, the relationship will need more than a band-aid to be mended.
“I know who Pat is. It’s no secret to me,” Wade said following Wednesday’s morning shootaround at Phillips Arena. “If you’re not with him, you’re against him. That’s just the way he is. You gotta understand that, man.
“I’m cool with it. I’m fine, 100 percent. I was there 13 years. I’ve seen a lot of video tributes. I’ve seen a lot of players come in and go out. And I’ve seen the way he has responded to them. And I know if you’re not with him, you’re against him.”
Ironically, Thursday is the first time that Miami fans will see Wade in another team’s uniform. How will he be received? He will get some love but it’s tough to say if he expects a friendly hello from Riley.
