It’s finally here. The matchup all NBA fans have been waiting for. Thunder v. Warriors and by extension Russ v. KD. Everyone knows the story about KD joining the Dubs, so we will not rehash. Tonight’s game will be full of emotions on both sides, and Draymond Green really wants this game for his new teammate KD.
In a media session during this morning’s team shoot around, courtesy of Money Poole of CSN Bay Area, Green shared his thoughts on tonights matchup:
I think it’ll be a lot of emotions. They’re going to want to beat him really bad. He’s going to want to beat them really bad. In turn, we’re going to want to beat them really bad because we want him to beat them really bad.
It’ll be a lot of emotions, but it’ll be a fun game to play in. It’s always a high-intensity game against them and I expect nothing less.
We have heard a lot from KD the past few days on his relationship with Russ and his time in OKC. Conversely, Russ has been his usual acerbic self. No commenting any questions about KD and giving the standard “any other game” responses. Per usual most of the mainstream media has been obsessing over every single motion by these two. It is completely understandable. However in the grand scheme it’s much to do about nothing.
Sure KD is more “sensitive” and shares more of his feelings but that doesn’t make him weak or soft. Yes, Russ snarls and snaps and says he doesn’t care and it’s all about his guys but that doesn’t mean he isn’t sensitive or is unfeeling.
Both men handle things differently. Shocking. They’re two completely different people. While all the attention will be on whether they speak or dap or guard each other, none of that matters. These are two teams trying to find themselves early in the NBA season. As for the future of Russ and KD, that relationship (like all relationships) will continue to evolve into whatever manifestation it’s going to be over time.
