Kirk Cousins is positioning himself to make a lot of money if he continues on the path that he is on at the moment. He’s in a spot where he has a lot of doubters wondering whether he is a franchise quarterback or just another average guy behind center. Following a big win against the Packers Cousins had an interesting encounter with his GM Scot McCloughan that grabbed the attention of many people.
Leaving the field Cousins yelled “How do you like me now” towards his GM. When asked about the situation Cousins has this to say via ESPN’s John Keim.
“No, there’s nothing. I was just excited coming off the field with emotion. I would prefer for that to happen with no cameras and no microphones. But I ran into him on the field where there cameras and microphones. We’re both competitors who want to win desperately and feeling great in that moment.
“Scot has done a phenomenal job bringing in the right people that have made a big difference in the success of this team. A big reason we are where we are and part of the reason we enjoy being here is because of the team Scot assembled.”
Cousins wanted at least $20 million per season, but the Redskins were only giving him an offer of $16 million. It’s still a long way to go so there is time for his stock to rise and fall. The key for Cousins is to position his team to win, and if they lose he has to make sure he’s not the reason why.
