Often times college athletes are stifled in their ability to voice their opinion on social issues. Wisconsin basketball player Nigel Hayes has decided to speak up. In a message on Twitter Monday night, the senior called on chancellor Rebecca Blank to be more active in resolving matters of racial discrimination.
His message highlighted an incident where a football fan dressed up as Barack Obama with a noose around his neck. Hayes says that University of Wisconsin athletes “are loved during competition, but then subjected to racial discrimination in our everyday lives.”
