Decades of waiting for a championship parade, the thrill of a spectacular game seven, and the emotions of winning or losing caused Indians and Cubs fans to seek a relief after the final out of the World Series.
According to Complex via the Pornhub Insights, the site’s traffic increased tremendously following the conclusion of Game 7 of the World Series in both Cleveland and Chicago.
Compared to the typical 2 a.m. on a Thursday, Chicago’s traffic actually spiked 41 percent while Cleveland’s numbers at 1 a.m. (understandably) increased 54 percent. Meanwhile, the state of Ohio was particularly feeling the Indians’ loss, and subsequently, feeling themselves as traffic jumped 96 percent shortly after the final out was recorded.
Earlier this year, Cleveland’s Pornhub traffic saw a drastic drop of 47 percent after the Cavaliers defeated the Golden State Warriors in Game 7 of the NBA Finals. So, it makes sense that when your hometown MLB team falls short of winning a championship, you seek comfort from good ‘ol Pornhub. However, the increase in numbers over in Chicago doesn’t make much sense. Once the game came to an end, and the Cubs snapped their much talked about 108-year title drought, there were probably family members to call, and plenty of people outside to celebrate with. You would think that porn would be the furthest thing from the minds of Cubs fans.
Win or lose, I think a lot of people just wanted to go to sleep after that one.
