When you think of certain franchises you automatically think of certain players who helped bring their teams to relevancy. No doubt when you think of the Dallas Mavericks you instantly think of Dirk Nowitzki. Dirk has helped carry the Mavericks just shy of 20 years, but it soon could be time for another player to carry the torch. Dirk discussed his future and how long he plans to play via yahoo sports.
“If things don’t go so well and it hurts everywhere, it could be that 2017 will be the end. Actually my plan is to complete the 20 years and play for Dallas until 2018.”
“But just because I have signed a two year-contract doesn’t automatically mean that I will play for two years. It could happen next year.”
The Mavericks clearly miss his presence on the court as they have fallen to 6-19 so far this season. One thing for sure is father time remains undefeated so Mavericks fans could already be getting a little glimpse of what life is like without Dirk.
Whether this is the end for Dirk or not he’s had a great career and his greatness should be appreciated.
