Back when Melo was a free agent, he had the choice to leave but he chose to sign a big fat contract and stay in New York. New York has Carmelo’s heart and he along with Lala have built something great here.
The Knicks may be falling apart but family might keep him there.
He spoke with Frank Isola of the NY Daily News and here’s what he had to say,
“That’s more about what I care about, my family,” he said early Tuesday. “My son being comfortable in New York at an age now where he’s really getting an opportunity to understand being in New York and having a home there and having friends there.
“My wife working there and having opportunities there. … I think about that more so than my decision for my career. At the end of the day, it will come down to my decision. But I think more about my decision and what they’re going to have to go through if anything would happen.”
Seems like the only thing Melo would flinch at is a move to LA. He already owns a home there and Lala will be just fine in LA. Their son would have to make a transition but LA isn’t too bad.
Carmelo is just making sure his family is good. Can’t fault the man for that.
